Yes!!!! Good to be back!  I couldn't come the first 2 days of the week because I was on vacation in Hawaii, so this is my 1st day.  We ran out to the Spectrum on the roads, so it was a good first run.  I also found out pretty quickly (no pun intended) that all of our easy milage is at 7:30 pace.  Good to know!

We ran out to the highway today.  It was easy milage, so it was at a faster pace.  I am still getting used to the routine because this is my 2nd day, but I'll get the hang of things.

Today was my ward's Father's and Son's Outing, so I was camping last night.  I got up at 6 and knocked out 4 miles in the mountains.  Because it was in the mountains, it was about 20 degrees cooler, which is nice :)

Today we ran a new route.  We followed our usual route for a ways, but then we tooka turn, following along the side of The Ridge, until we merged into it about halfway into the run.  I really enjoyed this one.

Today we did 4 miles at a 7:45-7:30 pace, then 2 miles of barefoot running at a slower pace.  I felt pretty good today, although the grass was a little spiky!

First of the week, and the best way to start it off is to go and run!  We started off kinda slow, but Spencer Ford kicked the tempo up to sub-7:50 in the first 3 miles, as is normal ;)

Another easy 7 today, but after adding in our kids camp and warm ups, it adds up to about 8.  I felt great for the first 6 miles, but on the last one we picked up the speed by about 30 seconds, and it got pretty rough.

Today we did our trail run out by Coach Thatcher's house.  I was going to go farther, but my knee was tightening up, so I eased up on the milage.  I kept the pace the same, hitting sub-7:30's and then 7:17 for the last mile.

Today we ran on the trails at the end of Navajo Dr.  I was supposed to do 9, and coach wanted me to do 7, so I compromised and did 8.  Today I noticed that it is really easy to focous on running when nobody is there to distract you.

Today was the first workout of the summer.  I felt good for the 5.5 mile warmup, but when we started the workout, my miniscus started flareing up, and  I couldn't finish it.  I guess I just have to be more careful about how my feet land and sturr, because I can't afford to get injured.

You are looking good Gibby. Icing your knees a couple times a day will help keep any problems in check.

Today was supposed to be a workout day, but I am injured, so I jogged the required milage.  Coach Powell gave me some suggestions on how to fix the problem that I am having, and I hope to be back in action by next week.

Today was a planned workout day, but my body had other plans.  I went 3 miles into the warmup and has to go back to the school because of my knee.  When I got to the school, I ran 1.5 miles on the turf, rolled out really good, and did another 1.5 barefoot.  Coach thinks that it is the shoes I have, so he got me squared away with some new shoes and some rolling techniques that should fix me up.

Today was our annual Little Black Mtn.  run.  I felt pretty crappy for the first four miles, but then I started to feel better towards the middle.  The last 3 were a problem, because I started getting a hotspot on the inside of my foot from my cotton socks. But overall, it was a good run

Tempo run today.  My knee was feeling fine, so I did the tempo run.  got 20 min. in and kept up with my pace.  1st day of XC camp! Yay!  I'm bunking with Sam, gingie, chris and matt.  Running at elevation is REALLY hard.  The "easy" 3 in the afternoon was pretty dang challenging.

This morning we did 5 miles around Puffer Lake.  It was pretty brutal, as the first 2-3 miles is all uphill and it is at 10,000 ft.  Got to sit in the cold lake afterwards, which was pretty nice.  Did 3 more in the afternoon.  Felt good, compared to yesterday.

Today was the day we ran/hiked up Delano Peak.  It is the highest mtn. in Southern UT, at about 12,000 feet.  We had over 2,000 feet of elevation change in under 3 miles.  When we got to the top, the view was spectacular.  On one side of the mtn. there is rolling green hills with pine trees and such, while on the other side there is jagged, rocky peaks and about 5 dozen mtn. goats! While we were up there, we set goals.  I am going to break 17:30 by Cedar Invite!  We also had a relay race at the lake today.  It was teams of six, and the race was 6*400 m. repeats per person.  Even though half of the people on my team didn't really run that much and we got dead last, it was still fun.

Today was a REALLY hot run.  I could tell it wasn't going to go well when Coach Frankie, the football coach, came out and started cussing us out for using "his" hose to fill up our ice bath (which never really was an "ice bath" due to the lack of ice, taken for the girl's soccer game.)  On top of that, I forgot my ultraspire pack, so I didn't have hydration for the run.  Regardless of that, this was the first run in a long time where I actually felt decent.  Glad to be recovering.

Today I finally started morning runs.  I was going to when school started, but I was sick, and there was lightning mon. and Tues.  I was pretty tired this morning, and the afternoon run was a little harder.

Today was the SUU invite.  I matched my time from the Cedar All-Comers race (even though cedar was shorter) and I beat three of the people that beat me at Cedar.  I'm feeling pretty good about my rate of improvment!

3 miles AM.  Felt fine.  After the workout today (which sucked really bad because I had no energy) I have decided that I am not getting enough calories immediately after my AM run and during the day.  I've lost 4 pounds in fat in just the past week because I haven't eaten enough.

Loosing 4 pounds of fat is almost always a good thing for a runner.

It is important to eat a good breakfast though.

Nice work today Josh! Like you said, make sure you get enough calories after workouts and drink enough water because some of the weight loss could be dehydration, and if you don't eat enough you won't recover which explains the sluggish feeling. And a little Skyrim will always help too haha

Today was a tempo/progression run.  It lasted for 25 min, and we kicked up  the tempo every 5 min up to all out.  my starting split was about 7 min. flat, and I kicked it up to a little under 5 min./mile for the last 5 minutes

Today was the Michican!!!!  It was the toughest workout of the year.  Coach wouldn't let me do the entire thing (but he only cut our 1 recovery mile between the 800 & 400), but I still killed all my splits.  I'm super happy with how it went, and I can't wait for BYU.

Today was one of the tougher workouts we have ever done on the region course.  It was 4*800 meters all out.  Coach split us into groups based on our speed.  The slowest person in the group started, then, 4 seconds later, the next person would go.  The goal was to catch everyone ahead of you and not let anyone pass you.  I felt that I did a good job, seeing as how I passed everyone I needed to and was passed only by Joe Buening.  After that, we had 4*300 meter finishes.

Today was the Snow Canyon All-Comers race.  It was a bit of a crazy day.  I was going to run varsity for the race, because we weren't racing our top 7 boys, but due to a football game, they combined the two boys races into a single race.  So, we really didn't get more than half a mile for the warm up, and then we had to wait around for 30 min. for the snow canyon coach to show up so we could start the race.  I ran a 17:22, which was decent, seeing as how we really weren't prepared and I wasn't focoused or anything, but it was okay.
